Colour in Culture

I just realise that colour could be different in symbolize something according to the culture. I was thinking that red is always brave, like our nation’s flag symbolize.

In some countries, red means danger or death or angry. Maybe it’s because of the blood’s colour is red. In my culture, red could be in love or brave. Wearing something red in China symbolize the happiness, like their wedding gown colour or in new years eve ceremonial 🙂
Anyway, after pink, red is one of my favorite colour.. *you can skip this information :p*

Blue like in the Baby Blues, my guess with this colour was right. It represents sadness, unhappy feeling, feeling blue, but The Smurf don’t unhappy :D. Blue in my college means ‘commitment‘, as deep as the sea, as high as the sky. It symbolize how commit we are, we will do everything perfect just for our college.

This is my favorite colour, in every culture it means in love or bright or in a good health (in medical speaking). Pink also symbolize immature, childish and teenager, it is really me :))

Same with pink, there is no high difference in Grey’s meaning. It’s complicated, can not make a decision or just can not simply as black and white. It always grey.
In neural brain we often see grayish area, it’s just my opinion that that’s how human being live. It is not easy as black or white, but deeply considering others feelings/attributes when make a decision. That’s why fuzzy logic is found, and it is always related to the grey area.

It represents the prosperity, good chance and others good thing. Wearing something golden can increase our confidence. Arabic and China former currency was also gold, even though it is not the most expensive thing to buy in this earth.

White in my religion is seen as something holy, same with our second colour in nation’s flag. As brave as red, as holy as white. White is the mother and origin of all colour, every colour has it’s white. Just like our first experiment with rainbow’s colour 🙂 the more we spin it, the more we see it’s getting white.

Black is the absence of white. Black in my country is known as death symbol, it is quite different with how US see the black is. Black in US represent the eligibility of someone, if someone really serious in their work, they will use black suit.
You can see this in Legally Blonde movie, everyone wear black in congress. Black for me personally means deeply, you can dye every colour in black but it will only black, it is undeniable and undebateable.

I knew that Green represents fertility, particularly in plants. I also heard that it is our prophet’s favorite colour. But it is the first time I know that Green symbolize jealousy or envy in US. In some jokes, Indonesian people usually said a greedy person as a someone who has a greeny eyes :))

Okay, now let’s analyze this song lyrics

I thought that red in US means also in love, because as we know the song of Taylor Swift

“Loving you was is red”

I just jump into conclusion that red is good thing while we are in love :p So, I was making a mistake, when I decided to post this part on my FB 😦

I should look at previous lyric

“Loving him is like driving a new Maserati down a dead-end street
Faster than the wind, passionate as sin, ended so suddenly
Loving him is like trying to change your mind
Once you’re already flying through the free fall
Like the colors in autumn
So bright just before they lose it all”

See? that loving him is really dangerous action, it seems bright at the beginning, but all of those happily things just blown away in a second when you fall.

Loving my husband is definitely not red! it’s pink! :”>

Another colour in her song lyrics

“Losing him was blue like I’d never known”

Yeah, it means that losing him, even though loving him was red, she still feels sad and it was never being an expected things for her.

“Missing him was dark grey all alone
Forgetting him was like trying to know somebody you’ve never met”

This is my most agreeably part, losing and passing the day without him is dark grey, why she chose dark grey instead of black? That’s obvious, because in sometimes loving him was red and losing him totally is not really that black, just dark with small presence of white. She felt a little happiness of losing him, like the second lyrics “trying to know somebody you’ve never met”. There is a small chance to feel another happiness, but you’re just not really that sure.

It seems like the song “I knew I loved you” by Savage Garden ya? :p
